Let's go!

In 1989, Stuart Gibbs opened the first branch of Spectacular Opticians in March, Cambridgeshire. Joined by his brothers, and building on the success of this, branches in Downham Market, Newmarket, Chatteris and Ely followed.

Together Stuart and Gareth, both Optometrists, and Martin, an Ophthalmologist, have built a thriving family run business with a passion for delivering the highest level of customer care.

Today, Spectacular Opticians continues to be very family orientated. Alongside Stuart, Martin and Gareth, John Attrill, Helen Attrill, David Nash, Aimee Peart-Webb and Lee Walker complete the Professional Optometric team. From our dispensers to our reception staff, many of our team have been with us for a large part of our story so far.

A huge thank you to your Downham Market branch who fitted me in at very short notice today when I presented with a painful eye. Both Tesco and Specsavers refused to see me until next week once they had established I wasn’t after a ‘standard’ eye test, despite me clearly being in pain. The receptionist at Downham couldn’t have been more helpful, and the optician gave up part of his lunch break to see me. That’s what I call excellent customer service, well done.
