Cataract Screening

Let's go!

As your eyes age they can become cloudy affecting the clarity of your vision.

For some, this can make it difficult to continue day-to-day activities such as driving. These cloudy patches form on the lens inside your eye and are referred to as cataracts.

Cataracts are most common in older adults. You should consider a cataract screening if you find that your eyesight is increasingly blurred or misty, you find bright lights uncomfortable, you find it difficult to see in low light or colours appear faded.

We have undertaken specialist training within the NHS to screen for cataracts and will do so in your routine eye exam. During your appointment we will use hand-held and table-mounted torches to look at the lens of your eye.

If we detect cataracts we will refer you directly to an NHS Consultant Ophthalmologist to discuss surgery. We can continue to care long-term for your eye health, including performing assessments after your surgery.

If you have noticed any deterioration in the clarity of your vision, contact us today to book an eye examination with one of our highly trained team.

I would like to thank Spectacular Opticians for their professional approach and the ongoing support that they have given me over the last few years. I was having constant problems with my eye sight, until I received a very thorough sight test from one of their Optometrists, and now I can live and work in extreme comfort.

The young lady attending to me was exceptional with the time and care she took over my difficulty. I just wanted to say a special thank you for the hour you spent looking after me.

Mr Michael Stone

A huge thank you to your Downham Market branch who fitted me in at very short notice today when I presented with a painful eye. Both Tesco and Specsavers refused to see me until next week once they had established I wasn’t after a ‘standard’ eye test, despite me clearly being in pain. The receptionist at Downham couldn’t have been more helpful, and the optician gave up part of his lunch break to see me. That’s what I call excellent customer service, well done.
